Nigel Thorgrimsson

Group Technical Director, Ardo & Chairman of the Crop Protection Working Group, UK

Group Technical Director of Ardo (European market leader in frozen fruit & vegetables) and Chairman of Ardo’s Corporate Sustainability Committee. Responsibilities include setting technical strategy and overseeing quality, legality and security of crop production and vegetable processing at Ardo sites across Europe.

Nigel has worked in the vegetable production industry for more than 20 years. Starting as an agronomist, he managed growing operations in both Europe and Asia before focusing on technical management. In his corporate role with Ardo, Nigel combines the knowledge acquired in both disciplines to develop solutions to a number of concerns shared by Ardo and its customers – including crop protection and sustainability.

Active in crop protection debates in Europe, Nigel chairs the European Association of Fruit and Vegetable Processors’ Technical & Legislative Committee and represents the association in a number of pesticide forums. He has been involved in crop protection discussions within GLOBALG.A.P. since 2004, as a member of EurepGAP’s T & L Committee, and since 2007 as the Chairman of GLOBALG.A.P.’s Crop Protection Working Group.

Nigel studied Agriculture and has an MSc in European Food Regulatory Affairs.
